‘Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love’ Dr Bruce Perry
What do we do?
Luna Therapy is a attachment focused and trauma informed therapeutic support provider based in Taffs Well, Rhondda cynon taf. We work under a neuro sequential model created by Dr Bruce Perry a pioneering neuroscientist and founder of the child trauma academy.
Our central aim is to strengthen relationships between children, young people and their care givers by providing therapeutic support in a safe and secure environment.
With a specialist interest in working with children/young people who have experienced trauma and loss we are passionate about offering safe and effective therapies in a way that enables people to re-build their lives following stress and adversity.
At Luna Therapy we are a multi disciplinary team and we take pride in ensuring that all aspects of the child and families well being is integrated into the therapy plan. We understand that the child does not struggle, or indeed thrive, in isolation from their family so we look to support all aspects of the child’s world including their emotional, physical and sensory health.
Common difficulties that children are referred to Luna Therapy are :-
- Anxiety, Low Mood, Relationship difficulties, Attachment difficulties, Post Traumatic stress disorder, Early years trauma.
If you would like to make a referral to Luna Therapy please call 07920-063705 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. A referral can be made on behalf of a family by their social worker or school teacher as long as the family have consented for this to happen.
What happens after a referral is made?
Once a referral is received an assessment meeting is arranged. At this meeting is the lead therapist, parents/care givers and social worker if appropriate.
At the meeting discussions will take place in relation to the difficulties the child is having and the therapist will gather a lot of information about the child’s early years. There will be a number of questionnaires to fill in that will allow the lead therapist to assess what would be the most appropriate intervention for the child and their family.
Different therapeutic interventions provided at Luna Therapy are Play Therapy, Theraplay, Therapeutic life story work, DDP, Sensory attachment intervention, Creative Arts therapy.
